Host companies design the olympic medals, and they’re getting rather creative with them. It used to be that they just looked like big, um, medallions. Extra large coins. But a few years ago you could really see the difference. I remember one winter games a few years ago when the medals appeared to be predominanty made of glass. Crystal, I’m sure, and I did hear that they had the signature metals incorporated into their design.
I just wonder if I would be a little disappointed if I were one of the atheletes receiving one. Assuradly not, but that won’t happen, anyway.
But in the 2006 games the medals are just weird. I’m sure I’m not unusual in thinking that the atheletes have CDs hanging around their necks. Big, heavy CDs. Maybe they broke apart some old hard drives and tied the platters to ribbons. Very, very weird.
