Ok, I know that Text Messaging has it’s place. If you need to send a message discretely, or just provide someinfo that doesn’t require a back-and-forth conversation then they’re fine. But it must be the least efficient means of modern communication.
I caucalate that it takes at least a minutes to compose and send a one sentence text message on my cell phone. As likely as not I’ll get a response, which may require acknowledgement or response on my part.
OTOH, a 1-2 minute phone call can cover a variety of topics, questions, answers, and social niceties. Depending on your plan, it might even be cheaper than sending a text or two. It’s a lot friendlier, too!
