Agave is getting a lot of good press from some channels (i.e. Dr. Oz and the like) because, well, I’m not sure. It’s very sweet and it’s “natural”. That doesn’t necessarily make it more healthful, though it will certainly be more expensive that sucrose, or white sugar. Agave actually has a higher fructose content than HFCS or High Fructose Corn Sugar, which generally gets bad press and with good reason. As for myself I’m going to try to stick with conventional sugars and limit my consumption as much as I can. Fans of The Nutrition Diva can read about another natural sweetener here.
